Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Across Somalia Through Training and Access to Finance

IBS Foundation has delivered business training to women in six Somali cities, equipping them with the skills and financial access needed to lead in production, entrepreneurship, and national development.

In a major step toward inclusive economic growth, IBS Bank has successfully conducted business training programs for Somali women across six cities: Baidoa, Beledweyne, Kismayo, North Galkayo, South Galkayo, and Lascaanood.

The training focused on strengthening core business skills and providing access to financing—empowering women to grow their enterprises, especially in sectors that contribute directly to the country’s production and self-reliance.

This initiative was delivered in collaboration with two partner organizations dedicated to supporting women-led businesses. Together, we are preparing participants not just to launch or expand businesses, but also to become contributors to Somalia’s long-term economic development.

For many women, this training and access to finance represent a golden opportunity to break barriers, scale their ventures, and take leadership roles in the country’s economic landscape.

At IBS Foundation, we remain firmly committed to empowering women—recognizing them as the backbone of our economy and a vital force for sustainable development.
